British born Josh Cole has always been fascinated with exploring and capturing evocative images from the underground street culture, including graffiti, breakdance, tattoo and criminal culture. Cole developed his practice by shooting hip-hop and street culture in some of the most deprived and dangerous areas of the world. His series of controversial and hard-hitting documentary photos with active street gangs and gypsy communities from across the UK affirmed his place in urban photography. In 2011 Cole turned his hand to directing, shooting in LA, India,
Malaysia, South Africa, Rwanda, Ethiopia and The Congo. The energy and creativity that comes from hardship, that comes from the slums is a recurring theme in his work. His most recent series Physical Graffiti has been described as his most visually arresting and compelling work to date.
Physical Graffiti was also be the name of his first BRP Solo Show that opened on May 2nd 2013.
