Swoon's 'Submerged Motherlands', Crude Oils, and Banksy at BRP

Happy Bank Holiday weekend from the Black Rat!

If you’re state side, especially in the NYC area, we cannot highly enough recommend Swoon’s latest installation at the Brooklyn Museum, ‘’Submerged Motherlands’’.  Running until August 24th, Swoon has transformed the rotunda gallery centring on a monumental sculptural tree with a constructed environment at its base, including sculpted boats and rafts, figurative prints and drawings, and her signature cut paper foliage.

Those who saw her Murmuration show with us can imagine just how all encompassing and immersive this exhibition is.   Really not one to be missed, if need be, get on that plane and get over to NYC.

More information on the show here:

We do have new works by Swoon, both large and smaller sized in the gallery and will be taking appointments for viewings in the next few weeks.  Drop us a line at info@blackrat.com to come by and have a look.

We’re also excited to announce our spring show, which will be a group exhibition of modified oil paintings.  The Crude Oil show will feature work by Banksy, Nancy Fouts, Butch Anthony, The Connor Brothers as well as introducing three new artists new to the BRP fold.   More details to come in the next few weeks but get excited now to see these fantastic group of artists take on freshening up this traditional medium.

If you’re jonesing for a coffee in central London, pop into Benugo on Hanover Street and Wigmore Street – we’ve pimped out the downstairs gallery with Black Rat Press editions, and the fantastic large sized photographs of Mr Josh Cole.

As always, we’ve got some new Banksy prints in this week.   Drop us a line at info@blackrat.com for the details of what’s available.

Now get out in that London sunshine, and get some Easter chocolate eating done.  Or else.

X Tiffany and Danae.
