The Balloon Seller & Other Tragedies

The Balloon Seller & Other Tragedies

Black Rat Projects is thrilled to announce a solo exhibition of new work by Giles Walker; The Balloon Seller and Other Tragedies.

The show will take place from 5th-14th December at the Lower Marsh Street space of Gallery 223.

The bird figure that has become synonymous with Giles Walker’s recent work is freed from the cage and is now found interacting with various two dimensional scenes. With an injection of popping colour and imagery, the artist plays with the contradictions at work in the human make-up whilst maintaining the dark humour that is so representative of Giles’ work.

The new work will be hung around Walker’s seminal kinetic installation The Last Supper, this will be the last chance to see the technological masterpiece until it starts a six month residency at The Science Museum in 2016. For the teaser:

Black Rat Projects will be hosting a Private View on Thursday 4th December 6-9pm

In partnership with Gallery 223 Arts Club we will also be hosting live entertainment evenings during the course of the exhibition, for more information on these please contact us at

We look forward to seeing you there,
